Q: Is fencing safe?
A: Very. We use the very latest foam swords and plastic masks, approved by the British Fencing Association, and are also qualified primary teachers, sports coaches and sword fencing coaches with a secure knowledge and vast experience of health and safety.
Q: What can I expect from a fencing party?
A: A completely unique, safe and fun party for your child, with excellent, friendly behaviour management and a series of original games designed to get your child and guests fencing with great enthusiasm and excitement in a very short space of time. Our parties are extremely successful and are backed by a series of quality testimonials that you are welcome to view by clicking here.
Q: How far do you travel?
A: We will happily travel within 20 miles of our address in Swinton, nr central Manchester and above this distance for a further charge of £1.50 per mile above this for our outward journey. For further details of our coverage please click here.
Q: Can you accomodate more than the 20 children included in each package?
A: Yes but due to the size of space required for each fencing 'piste' (and the amount of kits we are able to carry) we will ask children to share lanes if you have more than 20. We are very experienced in this so it isn't a problem. It is a very quick changeover and the children will hardly notice. In fact we use this method in school fencing sessions all the time with great success.
Q: Is there a minimum number of children?
A: In terms of being able to play the games effectively, the minimum recommended number is 10 children.
Q: Are you fully trained and CRB-checked?
A: Yes. We are CRB-checked by the British Fencing Association, graded fencing coaches and are also qualified primary school teachers.
Q: What is the age range?
A: 7 - 9 years for the foam swords, and10-12 for the plastic swords with chest protectors. Please click here for further details of this package. As for the minimum age, with regards to listening skills and dexterity, we have a general MINIMUM AGE OF 6 for all children taking part.
Q: How do I make a booking and secure a party date?
A: When we have discussed your needs and agreed a date, we will ask for a £20 deposit which you will need to pay via the paypal link under the "contact us" tab. When we receive payment confirmation, we will then send you our standard party booking form for you to use to supply us with all the details of your party.
Q: How do I pay the balance?
A: Due to the remote distance of a lot of our parties and the fact that we rarely see parents face-to-face before or afterwards, we have a strict payment policy of either payment of the balance one week in advance by either paypal or cheque (charges for paypal may apply) or cash on the day. As your party approaches, we will contact you to offer you a choice of these methods to make sure everything goes to plan.
Q: Is it open to both boys and girls?
A: Of course - we operate an equal opportunities policy and often find that some girls take to fencing even quicker than boys!
Q: What will the children need to wear?
A: Long sleeved shirts, trainers and long trousers.
Q: How much will it cost me?
A: For our current pricing structure, click here
Q: How long does each session last for?
A: Please see our comparison table.
Q: Is the cost of the venue included in the price?
A: Unfortunately not - the cost of venues can vary widely so we have deliberately reduced our prices by an average venue margin to allow you to pay for the venue in your budget.
Q: Can you find a venue for me?
A: If this is within our working area, then certainly. However, most sports centres or school/church halls would be suitable so it is often better to source your own venue at a location suitable to your specific needs.
Q: How do I know if my local venue is suitable?
A: As long as the venue is well lit, free from obstructions and is at least the size of an average tennis court (e.g. most school halls, church halls, sports centres) then it will be fine. We also provide a free, downloadable and printable letter to hand to venue managers which reassures them and details our requirements. You can get this by clicking here.
Q: What times of the day and week do you offer parties?
A: All day at weekends (Saturdays are preferred), evening from 4pm onwards, calendar permitting. Also anytime during the school holidays.
Q: Should the parents of guests stay and watch?
A: Our advice is no, parents should be asked to return to collect their child at the end of the party. The reasons being that parents can provide an unnnecessary distraction for the children, and in some cases can be so numerous that there can be the equivalent of a small crowd watching and talking while we are trying to instruct the children, which can make things very difficult.
